This game is relaxing a lot of fun to play. The characters and vocabulary are a bit cheesy.

I ordered this game frm Vidoegazers storefront through Amazon on December 4, 2008 for a Christmas present. The game never arrived. My account was charged 4 days after I ordered the product, so I assumed tha it would have shipped within a reasonable time. As Christmas came closer, I emailed and tried to contact the vendor several times. They never responded and I never received the product. I filed a claim through Amazon and I am waiting for my refund. Read the reviews for the month of December for Videogazers. They ripped alot of people off. Shame on them!

3 out of 5 stars I've seen better   July 22, 2008

This game is, well...just not where it should be. Play is alright, but tedious. Even at the "Semi-Pro" level, anyone who's halfway decent at poker will clean up against such players as Scotty Nguyen, Phil Helmuth, Jen Harman, et al. I figured that even the computer avatars of these players ought to be wiping up the board with me, but no, they're no more difficult an opponent than the little old tourist lady. Disappointing...

There are "instructional videos" by Phil Hellmuth as a special feature, but these are poorly done, don't really explain much, and end up being nothing but a plug to buy his DVDs. Half the time Phil is looking at the wrong camera. A minor complaint, but it shows how little attention was put into making this game.

Another play glitch, more serious - this game has a marked propensity for dealing you the same hand twice in a row. Not just the same hand, but the identical cards you just had. The first couple times I thought I was imagining it, but it's now happened 7 times in 5 hours. If you've played poker much, you know this just doesn't happen.

Overall, I found Stacked with Daniel Negreanu to be a much better game. Though it's designed for the PS2 and has commensurately lower graphics, it's a better poker experience. I actually learned quite a bit by playing that game, and it includes some brief instructional videos with Danny Negreanu that are far better in terms of both instructional value and production. Plus, Daniel's a likeable guy...even when he takes your money.

5 out of 5 stars Now For the River!   June 16, 2008

This is a tremendous improvement over the previous PS2 Version. The graphics are what you would expect in a quality PS3 Game. There are several gaming modes for quick individual play, more than one player, competitions, etc. You can speed up or slow down the game play speed, skip computer dealing and betting to go even faster, etc. Each player is truly unique and the atmosphere in the casino's is great - you feel like you are there. The sounds, etc are all adjustable so you can customize your own atmosphere and game play. I highly recommend this game if you are interested in improving your game. You can start as a novice and slowly increase the difficulty of play.
