I purchased this to replace a broken shower radio. I was pleasantly surprised...easy to use, easy to hang, excellent sound. I highly recommend.

Our inexpensive bathroom radio finally gave out after 10 years so it was time for a new one. I quickly discovered that simple radios aren't very common in stores these days, even at Best Buy. I found a radio for $20 at Walmart. It was almost useless because it did not pull in very many stations. So I shopped on Amazon and found this Sony, and, according to the description, it meets our needs to a tee. I was a little hesitant to buy a Sony product sight unseen. We have two Sony products in our house: A small transistor radio for the kitchen (excellent), and a compact stereo for my workshop (junk). Luckily, the Sony shower radio is like our kitchen radio. It's extremely well designed and functions beautifully. The reception is excellent and the sound is very good for a small unit. I can't conceive of a single improvement for what we need this radio to do.

Great little radio. I fell into the trap of buying an AM/FM radio, iPod player combo when what I really needed was strong FM reception. This little radio gets as good a signal as any radio I have in the house. The sound is great for the shower. The only two small issues that keep this radio from being a 6 star, is that the controls would be much better in the front where you can see them. The way I have the radio, I would have to be 6 foot 10 to see the controls. Also, a little more thought should go into how it fits in the shower. There is a robe to hang it from, but that lets the radio dangle. I did get one suction cup (I believe there is a spot for two and I just didn't get the second) but they are not the best. Neither is a show stopper, and I would buy this radio again 99.9 percent of the time. I'm sure that .1 percent is out there, just haven't found it.

"Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me." My first purchase of this product was satisfactory for around four years, then the rubbery top plate began to crack, allowing water to seep inside, and kill, the radio. Well, I guess four years isn't too bad, so when I wasn't confident in competing products, I bought it again. On the second one, after one year only, water found its way inside and onto the speaker, which no longer produces clear sound. The radio still operates, but the sound is unlistenable. I'll probably try the Sangean H-201 this time. I have a Sangean table radio that is used daily --- for over 19 years. Whereas Sony gives dire warnings about letting water splash directly onto its shower radios, Sangean says the direct contact is not a problem. Of course, I always kept my Sony radio away from direct contact with water, but the MERE PROXIMITY of water appears to have killed my second radio.
Shower radio that stands up to expectations July 2, 2010

Highly recommended. A sturdy waterproof radio that stands up to my expectations. Following an internet search and screening I decided On this radio, mostly because of good customers' reviews, and I'm not disappointed.
The merchant shipped promptly, so I have only good words for both.
