Great product, worth the investment.. July 17, 2010 Nursing student.. 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm currently an accelerated nursing student. I'm consistently overloaded with information daily. I bought this product prior to starting my program under the assumption that I would need to recored lectures. Now I'm not sure how I would have made it without. We typically have classes in lecture halls and I place the recorder on my bag near the floor, in the middle section of the hall and the sound quality is great. Also I'm a mac user at home and netbook-pc user at school and the files transfer easily. Additionally, you can create multiple folders to keep your recording organized. If you need to, you can save papers and music on the recorder as well.
The only down side is battery life. I would recommend also purchasing a rechargeable battery pack because the battery life is decent but with daily use can become expensive.
All around great product for me.
do not buy the Sony DVR ICDUX71 April 18, 2010 college student (los angeles, ca) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this voice recorder back in January and in less than a month it stopped working. I returned it back to the store and replaced it with the same model. The new one lasted only three months. I called up Sony and they told me that I have to send them the damaged one before I get another one. On top of all that, I had to pay for shipping to send it back to them. They told me that it would take 7-10 days before I get the replacement. What bad service. What a terrible voice recorder. The only redeeming quality about this voice recorder was the sound quality. Otherwise I would not recommend this voice recorder. It's not worth all the trouble, not to mention the time I would be out a voice recorder.
Great little recorder! April 7, 2010 ZZ (California) This little recorder is absolutely wonderful! I'm so happy I got it: portable and easy to use while providing excellent sound quality.
Watch Out! April 3, 2010 Fool Me Once (usa) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I received the recorder, put the battery in, and it will not turn off, either by the switch or automatically after 10 minutes, as advertised.
I called Sony's PITIFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. They do not even have a toll-free number. I talked to a guy I could barely understand. If I return it to Sony, I have to pay for shipping. I plan for a long life and will never buy another Sony product.
I bought it through Icon Electronics and have emailed them to see what they will do. I will update once this is resolved.
I stand by my comments about sony's "customer service". On the other hand, Jeff at Icon Electronics responded promptly and called me personally. He was very knowledgeable about the product and took care of the problem without a fuss. I will buy from him whenever I get a chance and encourage you to, as well.
Great for In-Classroom Use March 25, 2010 A. Chamberlain 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This recorder turned out to be far better than I expected it to be. It's extremely small, light, and easy to use. I'm using it with a relatively new MacBook Pro. It automatically records classroom lectures in MP3 format. I can simply plus this into my USB port, drag and drop the sound files onto my desktop, and listen to lectures later when I re-write my classroom notes. Runs on one AAA battery, and comes with headphones and a USB cord. Has 6 different sound quality settings, and lots of audio options. Really amazing product for just $70. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a simple, lightweight digital recorder.
